To earn their spot in the Red Bull Dance Your Style finals in Paris for a chance to be crowned global dance champion, South Africa’s best dancers will go head to head on the 3rd of August 2019 at the Newtown Music Factory in Joburg from 6pm.
B-BOY CRAIG (DURBAN), LEE-SHANE BOOYSEN (CAPE TOWN), LIMPOPO BOY (PRETORIA), B-BOY RHYTHM (PORT ELIZABETH) and ITSU’PRINCE (JOHANNESBURG) plus the wild card entries TBA soon, are ready to break a leg and show off diverse dance moves one more time, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Mzansi.
The Dance Your Style winner at Newtown Music Factory will jet off to Paris to compete on the world stage amongst 30 other countries who are taking part on the 12th of October 2019 to be crowned the global champion of Red Bull Dance Your Style.
So who can tell us better about the competition and what our finalist can expect at the global dance off in Paris is none other than Teboho Diphehlo or as he’s well-known, Tebza. He won the Dance Your Style competition last year and this year Tebza will accompany whoever comes out victories in Newtown. Here’s what he had to say.

need to bring their ‘A-game’ regardless of where they are coming from. When they get to the stage, they should always remember that the audience is their only allies to win the competition.”
With South Africa being known for a unique fusion of culture which has its expression in music and the arts, this year’s Dance Your Style finals promise a mixed, all-style solo (one-on-one) battle, in which dancers from any street style discipline will compete against each other.
Each battle will be an exchange of the diverse and different number of
styles that exist in street dance. The audience will get to see
break dancing, pantsula, hip-hop, popping, and other street dance styles all on one stage.
When it comes to the music that the dancers will battle to, the DJs will
be spinning well-known commercial tracks for each round, randomly
selecting different genres to test the dancer’s ability to perform and
adapt their dance styles to the rhythm of the beat. This means that
competitors will have to be ready to get down to anything from funk to
pop music, rap to house, old school classics to new, recent chart hits,
and other genres of popular music.
The most amazing part of the Red Bull Dance Your Style is that the audience has all the voting power. This means, the dancer who shows-off the coolest steps in interaction with rhythm, lyrics and instruments, as well as manages to wow the crowd and win their votes will be crowned winner.
