With the continent on the edge of its seat in anticipation to see The Real Housewives of Lagos (#RHOLagos) on our screens, Showmax is throwing the biggest event in African reality television of the year on Thursday, 7 April 2022.

In an African moment worth celebrating, Chioma Ikokwu, Toyin Lawani-Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo and Mariam Timmer of RHOLagos are jetting across the continent to join The Real Housewives of Durban (#RHOD), as well as celebrities and stars from acclaimed Showmax Originals, for a sumptuous gala dinner and celebration of pan-African culture and music.

The event – complete with pink carpet – will be hosted by a talent recognised across Africa, Bonang Matheba, who herself has not one but two reality series on Showmax (Being BonangA Very Bonang Year). Bonang is an accomplished MC, radio personality and businesswoman, born and raised in South Africa, and regularly spotted in Nigeria working on her many pursuits.

This iconic pan-African event, to be hosted in Sandton, also known as the richest square mile in Africa, comes hot on the heels of the RHOLagos premiere held at the magnificent The Jewel Aedia in Lekki, Lagos, and MC’ed by Toke Makinwa (talk show host on BBNaija: The Buzz and Talk with Toke Makinwa).

Tweeting about the upcoming event in Sandton, Toke showed her support for her fellow MC: “Hearing whispers, my girl Bonang is hosting an exclusive #RHOLagos party in Joburg with Showmax. She’s the host with the most!”

To further celebrate the two cities, celebrity chef Coco Reinharz has prepared a set menu inspired by iconic dishes from Durban and Lagos. The entertainment for the evening will be provided by Nigerian musician Pheelz and Afrobeats DJ Don Ayo, and bringing the Mzansi vibes are Sjava, DBN Gogo, The Cousins SA and the iconic Mafikizolo.

The event is not only a celebration of The Real Housewives of Lagos but also of the success of The Real Housewives franchise in Africa. RHOLagos is the first Nigerian instalment of the award-winning franchise, which is distributed internationally by NBCUniversal Formats, and the third to be adapted in Africa. After a string of smash-hit Showmax Originals, the streaming platform has cemented its reputation as the home of premium African streaming content.
