The Writers’ Guild of South Africa (WGSA), in collaboration with the Cape Town International Film Market and Festival, will present a scriptwriting pitch programme.
Selected projects will be pitched to local and international professionals over two sessions. Pitches will be narrowed to a final round, where international festival programmers and consultants will award prizes, including production sponsorship to the value of R200 000, script and project consultancies and international festival strategy consultations.
Writers of the selected projects must take part in a WGSA Pitch Readiness Session, which will be held in major cities prior to the Cape Town Film Market.
The session is external to the Cape Town Film Market and carries a nominal cost of R300 for non-members and R150 for WGSA members. All attendees of the WGSA Pitch Readiness Session will receive two complimentary Cape Town Film Market badges, worth R1 000.
Applicants must submit the following materials to have their project considered for selection for the Scriptwriting Pitch Program:
- Motivation/introduction of the project (300 words)
- One-page outline, including title, logline and synopsis
- Full feature film script
- WGSA script registration number
- Biographies of writer and any key attachments: director, producers, production companies, etc.

Materials are to be submitted via email to ctpitch@writersguildsa.org. The deadline is Friday, 14 September. Projects selected for the WGSA Pitch Program will be announced on Friday, 21 September.
