South Africa’s leading youth radio brand YFM 99.2 is stepping into a new era as they usher in what can simply be referred to as – the ReUp, a fresh, new and exciting approach to radio broadcasting to a cosmopolitan audience. This Re-Up is also supported by a line up of the fiercest young radio talent South African radio has to offer.

Building on their 2016 positioning – #Namanje which saw the station find the best young radio talent there is and put them on, the Re-Up is a confident step up into the next level in content, reach and engagement with it’s listeners. The station is “coming for everything”. This is no surprise as YFM has been known to be pioneers in what becomes known as cutting edge and urban youth culture. YFM’s messaging for the year sees a bold, rich embrace of Africa. The station is going global with an African outlook, expressing how Africa can be urban, youth culture to the world.

Tshepo Pule – YFM Programme Manager

“We’re proudly South African but what is important to note is our global outlook” says Programming Manager – Tshepo Pule.

The line up of YFM’s on air talent for the 2017 programming year is quintessential YFM, a colourful, vibrant mix of young personalities who command your attention. They’re young, they’re free, they are expressive and unapologetic. The station continues to not only launch the careers of many African artists and serving the youth of South Africa the hottest tunes but is also focused on bringing the world closer to home for their Yires who are a broad audience of young adults from all walks of life.

“Our listeners from all over Africa today recognize that the world is interconnected and because of this they’re constantly re inventing for themselves what it means to be African, young and dynamic. They’re always pushing boundaries and self expressing in the most beautiful ways and as a station, we remain committed to giving them the platform to do so that nobody else provides” adds Tshepo Pule.

So, what can you expect from GP’s Hottest Frequency? A Re-Up of authentic edge, slay and future focused expression – namanje!
