A groundbreaking digital solution has been unveiled. It aims at simplifying and enhancing the student experience. This is achieved with the official launch of Student Konnect. Student Konnect is an all-in-one super app. Unisa Enterprise collaborated strategically with Omnex Global and African Bank to develop it. Omnex Global is a global technology innovation company.

The platform was launched on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, at Coastal KZN TVET College, the largest TVET college in KwaZulu-Natal. The event drew significant attendance from students eager to register and explore its features.

Student Konnect represents a major advancement in creating a connected, accessible, and digitally enabled higher education ecosystem in South Africa. It integrates essential student services, opportunities, and support systems into a single, user-friendly platform.

Unisa Enterprise CEO Lesetsa Matshekga stated: “Student Konnect is a comprehensive digital platform. It brings together essential student services, opportunities, and support systems. Everything is available in a single, easy-to-use application. It supports students and the broader higher education ecosystem at multiple levels. You might be a recent matriculant exploring institutions. Perhaps you are a student seeking a tutor. You could also be a lecturer aiming to connect more effectively with students.”

He added: “We have consolidated multiple tools and services. These help students navigate their academic journeys. They also prepare them for the world of work.”

Omnex Global CEO HRH Jamal Mathibe described the platform as a “virtual mall” offering convenient access to vital services. “We have partnered with Matador Digital. They collaborate with major retailers to provide savings and rewards programmes. These programmes empower students to sustain themselves during their studies,” Mathibe explained.

The app also includes a virtual learning portal. Lecturers can create digital classrooms and connect directly with students. The app also provides study materials to enhance knowledge connectivity and critical thinking. An AI-powered language translation tool further supports students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

This collaboration leverages expertise in education, technology, and financial services to empower students and strengthen South Africa’s higher education landscape. Coastal KZN TVET College Student Support Officer Mthokozisi Ndlovu noted the platform’s immediate value: “It simplifies students’ lives. It allows them to focus on studies, personal development, and family time. This is achieved by reducing the need for multiple platforms.”

Assistant Director Sizakele Mbatha encouraged registration: “We urge our students to join. This will minimise communication tools as this becomes our centralised platform. We invite other institutions to participate, fostering communities across colleges.”

Students and stakeholders can register and learn more at student-konnect.com.
