“EVERYBODY WANTS THIS,” exclaims 20th Century Studios. They have unleashed the sizzling trailer, character posters, and stills for The Devil Wears Prada 2. Almost 20 years have passed since the 2006 cultural phenomenon created “cerulean sweater” memes and power heel fantasies. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are storming back into Runway magazine’s cutthroat corridors. Opening exclusively in theaters 1 May.

The original holy grail reassembles with Streep’s ice-queen Miranda Priestly. Hathaway’s transformed Andy Sachs joins her. Blunt’s venomous Emily Charlton and Tucci’s loyal Nigel Kipling also make a return. Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna reunite. They aim to mine fresh chaos from the glossy hellscape. This hellscape grossed $326M worldwide and won a Screen Actors Guild Award.

A powerhouse newcomers’ runway electrifies the sequel:

  • Kenneth Branagh as a mysterious power player
  • Simone Ashley (Bridgerton) injecting Gen-Z fire
  • Justin Theroux delivering signature smolder
  • Lucy Liu commanding boardroom gravitas
  • Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, Conrad Ricamora rounding out the next-gen schemers

Tracie Thoms (Lily) and Tibor Feldman (Irv) reprise their pivotal roles, bridging past betrayals to present-day power plays.

Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump, original Prada) headlines production, backed by executive producers Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna. The creative dream team that delivered fashion’s most quotable commandment—”That’s all!”—returns to dissect 2026’s digital influencers, TikTok stylists, and fast-fashion carnage through Miranda’s withering gaze.

Trimestral Trends readers who lived Prada‘s Manolo mandate know its seismic style impact. Google searches for “Chloé Paddington bag” spiked 400%. “Runway magazine internship” queries haunt colleges annually. Prada 2 promises to dissect social media’s democratized fashion. It will explore generational style wars. It will highlight Miranda’s evolution from analog tyrant to algorithm empress.

The trailer teases frosted conference rooms, after-hours power walks through Bryant Park, and that signature Priestly pause pregnant with annihilation. Emily Blunt recently teased to Variety: “Emily Charlton’s claws are sharper than ever.” With Branagh’s gravitas and Ashley’s fresh insolence, this sequel doesn’t sequel-ize—it sequins the crown.

Mark 1 May. Runway demands your allegiance. Prada stans, your devil’s back.
