The Inaugural South African Music marathon kicks off in the North West.

The Inaugural South African Music Marathon is a new platform that will afford musicians from underprivileged backgrounds the opportunity to showcase their talents. The programme will see young musicians being exposed to networking opportunities to bridge the creative divide in impoverished areas.

The music marathon will host various events starting in Rustenburg, North West on the weekend of 22 March 2015 at Lesung Community hall. The event will see musicians being exposed to potential talent scouts and adoring fans that would have come to support them.

The event is strictly targeted at young musicians in disadvantaged areas across the country. The idea behind this massive undertaking is to provide a platform to unrecognized musicians who are less fortunate to undergo any form of formal career development in the Music Industry.

South African Music Marathon will cover developmental areas such as exit opportunities, performance principles, network tools, mentoring, career development, music business workshops, exchange programs and partnerships. With the help of various stakeholders the Inaugural South African Music Marathon will become an annual fixture in various community calendars.

The inception of this program started when the event organizer/founder Sello Ramosepele identified gaps in arts development through his observation and research in different music organizations and production companies. “It’s all ways been a long standing dream for me to give back to my community and through this programme we will be creating platforms for young musicians to showcase their talent and introduce them to people in the industry who could assist in developing their careers. Without the support of the Arts and Culture Trust, Nedbank Arts Affinity, Braam Vibes Publicity and Leopard Queen Network, this event wouldn’t be possible.” Said Ramosepele.
