The Lion King was the most anticipated movie<\/a> of 2019 that pierced cultural boundaries and saw some of our local talent shine on the world stage. For the first time ever Disney in partnership with local talent, specifically Lebohang “Lebo M” Morake who will work closely with the iconic Eddie Clayton and a proudly local 84-piece orchestral group to bring an all-new experience to South Africa’s highest-grossing film of all time through 4 screenings accompanied by a live orchestral performance. <\/em><\/strong>It\u2019s\u00a0a perfect family outing for the school holidays, only at the Sun Arena at Times Square in Pretoria from 10-12 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by the prominent South African\nconductor Eddie Clayton,<\/strong> Disney’s The Lion King LIVE in\nConcert <\/em><\/strong>in collaboration with FNB, <\/em><\/strong>will\noffer families a unique musical experience that will provide memories that will\nlast a lifetime. Passion, excitement, adventure and laughter from the 2019\nfilm, with its iconic characters and unforgettable story, will be brought to\nlife in goose-bump-producing and spine-tingling new ways, as the impeccable\nworld-class Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> provides a\nlive performance of Oscar\u00ae and GRAMMY\u00ae-winning composer Hans Zimmer’s original\nmotion picture soundtrack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is with great “pride” that\nworld-respected composer and African vocal\/choir arrangement producer for the\nfilm, Lebo M,<\/strong> will participate with Eddie Clayton<\/strong> and\nthe orchestraon opening night, 10 December. Lebo M was\nspecifically chosen by Hans Zimmer to collaborate on the unforgettable\nsoundtrack to the 1994 animated global hit, which earned the two a Grammy\u00ae\nAward, and his voice is appropriately the first to be heard as the show begins,\na timeless salute to one of our nation’s great creative legends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The enormous 84-piece orchestra will\nperform the original soundtrackwith seamless synchronicity\nthroughout this screening, guaranteeing an astonishing audio-visual experience\nfor the whole family, with sweeping, soaring audio and state-of-the-art\npioneering filmmaking techniques displayed on the big screen, this is a must-experience\nevent, a first of its kind in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The orchestra will not be in a\ntraditional pit but on stage below the massive screen and will be made up\nentirely of South African musicians, keeping this historic show proudly local.\nFrom the moment the timeless first notes are heard, audiences will be swept up\nin an exceptional storytelling experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25cf        Playing under the African sun can be thirsty work, so\nif you’re on the hunt for food or liquid refreshments, there will be enough\nfood and beverages for all ages and tastes with a variety of bars and\nrestaurants providing food for a king at the Time Square and the Sun Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
