Joining the panel was <strong>J&amp;B\nHive<\/strong> members Lethabo Mokoena of Walkfresh, Bedoo\u2019s creator Nombusio Nkosi\nand Sthe Mpehle Head of Dipopaai who shared their experiences as small business\nowners and some of the challenges that they face in the South African economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South\nAfrican local small businesses contribute to the growth of the country\u2019s\neconomy, yet ONLY three out of ten are said to have a chance of survival. A challenge\nthat needs to be addressed amid the unemployment crisis we are facing. During\nGEW this November, South Africa joins over 170 countries in bringing awareness\nand supporting local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\nOctober 2019, Statistics South Africa sent a shock when it announced that the\nunemployment rate in South Africa was standing at 29.1 percent, the highest it\nhas ever been since comparable data began in 2008 and yet small businesses are\nsaid to be the engine that will stimulate job creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe <strong>J&amp;B Hive<\/strong> has garnered a well-deserved\nreputation as the creative nerve centre of Johannesburg, where entrepreneurs\nand young businesses are incubated in a space that encourages creativity,\ninnovation and disruption. The pledge is part of an art installation in the form of mannequins where\nthree out of ten mannequins were standing, while the rest are lying on the\nground to highlight the contrast between businesses that succeed (30%) and\nthose that fail (70%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A catalyst for creative entrepreneurs and innovative\nsmall business hub based in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, the <strong>J&amp;B Hive<\/strong> is about disrupting the\nstatus quo and pushing boundaries with the goal of seeing young businesses\nthrive and change the economic trajectory of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">J&amp;B\nhas been proudly accelerating\nlocal business since 2015 through the J&amp;B Hive \u2013 a collaborative space that\nis a creative hub and local business accelerator. J&amp;B is so committed to elevating\nlocal businesses that the brand has given its advertising space to\nentrepreneurs to shine a spotlight on their businesses.
