This is what represents the character and lifestyle of the extended local community, as well as a large mosaic artwork behind the bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7330.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1345\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1345\" class=\"wp-image-1345\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7309.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1346\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1346\" class=\"wp-image-1346\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had no doubt that Voodoo Lily would rise to the occasion.\nHodes has an impressive 30 years of experience in the restaurant business with a\nsound understanding of the Birdhaven, Melrose Arch, and Illovo community\nthrough Arbour Caf\u00e9, just around the corner from Voodoo Lily, which has\nblossomed since he took ownership of it three years ago as well as Calexico at\n44 Stanley. Not forgetting Voodoo Lily\u2019s very own Chef Josh Simon who created an\nexciting, fresh, and mouth-watering menu, offering something for everyone\nthroughout the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A friendly and pleasant welcome by Voodoo Lily\u2019s manager,\nDean Appleton who shares some info about the restaurant and is very excited to\nshow us around says that people can expect a dining experience, from the music\nto the d\u00e9cor to the relaxed vibe outside to the specially selected music anytime\nbetween 7:30 am and 8:00 pm offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7331.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1348\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1348\" class=\"wp-image-1348\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7332.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1349\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1349\" class=\"wp-image-1349\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7333.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1350\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1350\" class=\"wp-image-1350\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After showing us around and taking pictures of the restaurant\nand people, the Braam Vibes team sat down to have a look at the menu while they\nhad wine to drink. Hodes advises one of us to try out their Hot Brisket on rye,\nLoaded latkes, Fresh gnocchi with pulverised broccoli and garlic, which Chef\nJosh has been perfecting since a friend\u2019s grandmother made it for him in\nBologna years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The signature dish on the breakfast menu is Shakshuka, a\nMediterranean fragrant tomato sauce, eggs, olives, zaatar yoghurt and challah\ntoast dish that Hodes says Chef Josh fell in love with some years ago in\nIsrael. The menu incorporates cuisines from a variety of cultures, from New\nYork and Chicago to Mexico, the Middle East, Spain, Italy, and South Africa,\nwith a great range of sweet and savoury, light and hearty meals, and trendy\nbeverages, all fresh, interesting, and totally delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7355.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1351\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1351\" class=\"wp-image-1351\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7335.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1352\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1352\" class=\"wp-image-1352\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7352.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1353\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1353\" class=\"wp-image-1353\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/braamvibes.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7351.jpg?fit=640%2C427\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"1363\" data-link=\"https:\/\/braamvibes.co.za\/?attachment_id=1363\" class=\"wp-image-1363\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voodoo Lily also features a must-try cocktail menu, a\nrange of beautiful wines and local craft beers, as well as old favourites. To\nround off the menu for everyone, little people and doggy friends are also\naccommodated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hodes said that he got to understand the market- that if you take away the community then there is no Voodoo Lily, previously called Voodoo Caf\u00e9. And why he decided to keep the name after taking ownership he says the name Voodoo Lily; is what creates interests about the place, you never know what to expect when you hear it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cMy favourite thing about Voodoo Lily is the location.
